CrystalMaker Guide: Plot Modes &Stereo
Altering the Plotting Mode
CrystalMaker lets you operate in one of three different modes:-
1. Photo-Colour mode results in photo-realistically rendered models. Crystals are printed as bitmaps (but you can print at the maximum resolution of your printer), so this option consumes the most memory, although it generally looks best on screen. This mode also allows you to use depth fading - to simulate effects of atmospheric haze, so that the most distant parts of your crystal "fade-out" into the background.
2. Photo-Grey mode is similar to Photo-Colour mode, except that colours are replaced by shades of grey. This mode is useful for previewing the output from greyscale printers.
3. Black & White mode is useful for preparing simple diagrams for publication, or for handouts. In this mode, atoms, bonds and polyhedra may be represented by stylized elements.
Use the Rendering menu to switch between different plot modes, and use the Rendering Options command to display a tabbed dialog allowing you customize the appearance of your plot.
Viewing in Stereo
You can view graphics in one of two stereo modes:-
1. Red/Blue Stereo: produces dramatic out-of-screen 3D images, but requires viewers to wear special red/blue (or red/green) stereo glasses - these are supplied with the full version of the program.
2. Stereo Pair Plots: left and right images displayed side-by-side on screen.
